LUNG - Lower left lobe - bronchial adenoma

Description
The cut surface of the lung shows a spherical polypoidal lesion just distal to the apical bronchus; there is evidence of obstruction of the basal bronchi. The surface of the tumour is smooth and the tumour measures approximately 1.0 cm across.
History
This woman presented at the age of 30 with a 12 month history of intermittent cough, wheeze, and occasional small haemoptysis. Bronchoscopy showed the lesion seen here. The histology of the lesion is that of a clear cell adenoma of salivary gland type arising in a bronchus.
